TUBA (Transumbilical Breast Augmentation)

Breast TUBATUBA (Transumbilical Breast Augmentation) is a new procedure in which a novel approach is used in breast augmentation. Breast augmentation is routinely performed through various insertion points. The most common incision sites are inframammary (in the breast crease), periareolar (around the nipple) and axilla (the underarm). Not until recently has been possible to avoid any incisions on the breast for insertion of the implants.

Transumbilical Breast Augmentation (TUBA) is a new procedure that involves surgical placement of saline implants in order to enhance breast size and shape. A very small incision is made inside the rim of the navel; and then using a small camera, the saline implant is inserted through a narrow tunnel developed under the skin, into the tissues behind the breast. The result of this type of enlargement looks the same as after the older methods, but without the telltale scar on the breast.

The transumbilical breast augmentation (TUBA) procedure can be performed in either a subglandular (over the muscle) or submuscular (under the muscle) techniques. Although this is not the procedure suited for all, in selected patients, this approach provides a very natural contour, while allowing a substantial breast size increase and an earlier return to activity with no breast incision to protect. In addition, apart from just achieving enlargement of the breasts this technique can also be used to adjust the shape, size and volume of uneven sized breasts (asymmetry), and as an adjunct to correct certain breast deformities.

This new and rapidly evolving technique is performed only by a few surgeons across the country. The transumbilical breast augmentation (TUBA) leaves only one very small inconspicuous scar that is placed in your navel (umbilicus), and it is therefore far away from your breast.

There is only one small scar that is placed in an inconspicuous place that no one would ever suspect you had it done. As a matter of fact in can be placed through any existing scar you have on your body (i.e. Appendectomy scar, gallbladder scar. C-Section scar or any other scar that is on your abdomen).

The transumbilical breast augmentation (TUBA) is performed on an outpatient ambulatory surgical facility setting with a short postoperative recovery period.
