What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is a synthetic cosmetic injectable that reduces wrinkles, creases and scars by augmenting the body’s natural collagen supply. Composed of microspheres in a biocompatible gel, Radiesse is made from the same minerals found in our bones and teeth, so it carries little risk of allergic reaction and there is no need for the skin to be tested before a Radiesse treatment. Radiesse treatment can be used on many areas of the body, including the lips, nasolabial folds, peri-oral lines, depressed scars and oral commissures.

Radiesse treatment typically takes 15 minutes and requires only local anesthetic. Side effects such as swelling or bruising are minimal and should fade within a few days. Results are visible immediately after the Radiesse injection and can last for months and up to 2-5 years, making it more permanent than most other cosmetic injectables.

Who is a candidate for Radiesse?

A good candidate for a Radiesse treatment are individuals are physically healthy, have realistic expectation, and are interested in improving the signs of aging on their facial skin. Radiesse may be appropriate for individuals who have already tried other cosmetic injectables and desire more permanent results. Both men and women can benefit from the Radiesse treatment and feel better and more confident about their appearance.

The Radiesse Treatment

The Radiesse treatment is an outpatient procedure. During the treatment, a small needle is used to implant the Radiesse cosmetic injectable. Topical and/or local anesthetic is used for pain control during Radiesse injections.

It generally takes only about 15-30 minutes to perform the Radiesse treatment. Our recommendation is for you to wait a day before going back to work or performing daily tasks. Because the results of Radiesse last longer than other cosmetic injectables, it can make the facial muscles sore or give patients a headache on the day of treatment. After just one day, most patients are fine and can resume their normal activities.
