For the last ten years, Fraxel Laser treatments have been considered to be one of the most advanced laser skin resurfacing techniques in the cosmetic industry. Their newest innovation, Fraxel Re:Store, combines the dual power of two types of lasers, erbium lasers and thulium lasers, for an effective but gentle skin resurfacing treatment that targets scarring, hyperpigmentation, and hard to treat wrinkles.
The Fraxel Re:Store Dual Laser treats:
- Hard to treat wrinkles around the eyes
- Acne scars
- Surgical scars
- Age spots and sunspots
- Actinic Keratoses (precancerous lesions)
- Brown spots
While most patients require 3-5 treatments every 3-8 weeks, the treatment is quick, gentle, and has minimal side effects. The Fraxel Re:Store is also adjustable enough to use any kind of skin type, from dark to light, and can be used in other parts of the body that have dark spots, like the chest, back, legs, and arms.
What’s the science behind Fraxel Re:Store Dual?
A Fraxel Laser is called a “fractional laser” because they use thousands of microscopic columns of lasers (that’s one-tenth the diameter of a hair follicle!) with specific depths and widths to reach deep into the skin. The combined Erbium and Thulium lasers then stimulate collagen production and the regeneration of healthy, fresher skin. Because it’s so precise, a Fraxel Laser treatment can avoid healthy tissue and only target problem areas.
What’s the procedure for Fraxel Re:Store?
Fraxel Re:Store procedures only take about 20-25 minutes: your face will be cleansed, then prior to your procedure you’ll get a numbing topical anesthetic to reduce any kind of discomfort. It’s quick, simple, and easy.
How safe is the Fraxel Re:Store Dual
Fraxel Re:Store is what’s considered a non-ablative laser, and although that might sound intimidating, a non-ablative laser stimulates skin repair and collagen production without having to “wound” the skin. That means that, combined with the fact that fractional lasers only treat essential target areas, the Fraxel Re:Store has minimal side effects and downtime.
Post-treatment, you might experience redness that usually lasts a few hours to a few days. For the first week or two, dark pigment that’s been treated will appear darker. After 3-4 days, the skin will start to peel and will feel like sandpaper for a week or more. Afterwards, your skin will feel fresher and smoother with a more even skin tone*.
