Restylane®

Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic injectable that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (smile lines). One of the newest injectables available, this FDA approved facial treatment is designed to slow the signs of aging. It not only fills in facial lines and wrinkles, but it also helps to moisturize the skin, making it feel more youthful.

Is Restylane® Right For You?

Restylane® is a wonderful alternative to animal-based injectables, as it is made of non-animal-based Hyaluronic Acid, or HA. This natural substance already exists in the human body and is hydrophilic, or “water loving.” Its ability to bind to water is what make the results of the Restylane® treatment long-lasting.

Restylane® treatment can be used to treat facial lines and wrinkles, enhance the lips, and improve the look of the area beneath the eyes. It creates the appearance of fullness and increases your skin’s elasticity in a procedure that lasts only a few minutes.

The Restylane® Treatment

The Restylane® treatment is an outpatient procedure that takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. It is injected into the skin below the wrinkles by a fine needle, lifting the wrinkle to the desired position. When lip enhancements are made, Restylane® is injected directly into and around the lip. Topical or local anesthetic is usually used to ensure the patient’s comfort, but anesthesia is not necessary. Restylane® already contains the local anesthetic Lidocaine, so the injections are not painful. Once injected, the gel integrates into the dermis and binds water. The results of the Restylane® treatment are immediate and clearly visible*.

Patients can also be assured of a positive experience in the hands of Dr. Tehrani, who is an ExpertInjector™, a distinction only 3% of doctors have been given. You may have some bruising, swelling, tenderness, or redness, but that will fade in a few days to a week. There is also no downtime, so patients can return to their normal routine immediately afterwards.

Over time, Restylane® is gradually reabsorbed into the skin without a trace. The results of the Restylane® treatment will depend on the patient’s age or the severity of the wrinkles in the area being treated. They typically last around 6-8 months and, in some cases, up to a year. The Hyaluronic Acid will recharge the body’s natural production of collagen, which is why the results are so long-lasting*. Follow-up treatments at 6 to 12 month intervals are recommended to maintain the youthful results.
