Q&A: Can I Have Breasts Removed?

“I have larger breasts (32 D last I checked) and I have been informed that they are likely contributing to my chronic back pain. I have thought about it, and I came to the conclusion that I would much rather have them completely removed rather than just reduced. Is this something that would be possible to have done for my breast size issue instead of just having them reduced?”, asked a RealSelf user.

“While it is possible to remove your breasts entirely, I would not recommend that. This procedure (mastectomy) is usually done in patients with breast cancer. A breast reduction will give you alleviation of your symptoms without a need to resort to drastic measures by having mastectomies. Please see board certified plastic surgeons in your area to discuss breast reduction.”, explained Aristocrat’s certified surgeon Dr. Kevin Tehrani, M.D., F.A.C.S.
