If you’re looking to achieve tighter, firmer, better-fitting skin to combat loose or sagging skin, look into Ultherapy, a non-surgical face treatment offered by Aristocrat Plastic Surgery & MedAesthetics. Ultherapy isn’t a facelift – it’s an uplift. It uses ultrasound technology to gradually strengthen and tone your skin from deep within.
Ultherapy can specifically target the deep foundation below the skin that’s typically addressed in cosmetic surgery without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. And it’s the only procedure that uses ultrasound imaging, which allows the practitioner to see the layers of tissue targeted for treatment to ensure that the energy is deposited precisely where it will be most effective.
Utherapy is an FDA-approved technique that stimulates the body to produce more collagen for months of gradual improvement. Collagen is a natural protein that gives skin its youthfulness by keeping it firm, toned, and elastic. Ultherapy jumpstarts a repair process that produces fresh, new collagen.
As with any cosmetic treatment, there are before and after tips that can help you prepare for your session and help you afterwards, to get the maximum benefits of it and visibly see the most successful results. That said, it’s important to note that you cannot be a candidate for Ultherapy if you are pregnant.
Helpful Tips to Prepare For Your Ultherapy Face Treatment
There aren’t many before and after requirements for Ultherapy treatments, but there are some key steps to take that will help you have a more successful experience:
- Consult First. Your most important step should be to call us at Aristocrat to set up your one-on-one consultation with Dr. Tehrani, one of the top 10 Plastic Surgeons in New York. Your consultation will allow Dr. Tehrani to assess your skin’s condition, answer any questions or concerns, and determine your appropriateness as a candidate for the procedure.
- Check Medications. Make sure to review the medications you’re currently taking with Dr. Tehrani during your consultation to find out which ones will be safe to take before your treatment and which ones should be avoided.
There are some over-the-counter medications such as aspirin and anti-inflammatories that can provoke bruising, so you might be recommended to substitute an oral homeopathic supplement such as arnica montana to minimize your risk of bruising and swelling, but start using it two days before your treatment. - Products to Avoid. You should refrain from using Retin-A, retinoids, and/or similar compounds containing vitamin A 3 days before or 3 days after you’ve received your treatment. Facial scrubs containing harsh ingredients or products used for exfoliating or bleaching skin should also be avoided.
- No Tanning, No Sun. Avoid the temptation to tan or expose your skin to prolonged exposure to the sun 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your treatment.
- Special Precautions. Avoid taking blood thinners and consuming heavy alcohol 2 weeks before your Ultherapy treatment. Avoid having any Botox treatments no less than 1 week before treatment. And do not have any dermal filler injections no less than 4 weeks before your treatment.
- Eat Something. Be sure to have a small meal before your treatment if you’ve chosen to get narcotics for pain or a sedative to relieve anxiety.
- Plan a Ride Home. Enlist the help from a friend or family member to pick you up and drive you home. You will not be able to drive yourself while you’re on narcotics or sedatives.
Helpful Tips to Recover from Your Ultherapy Face Treatment
There are a few post-treatment tips that we recommend for helping you get the most benefit from your Ultherapy facial treatment:
- Add more Pillows. If you’ve opted to have a local anesthetic injected as part of your treatment, sleep with several pillows under your head for two or three nights so that the anesthetic can drain down and away from your face.
- Treat Mild Bruising. While it’s normal that you’ll feel some mild tenderness from your treatment, sometimes the swelling and bruising that can occur along the jaw line can last for more than several days. Use oral or topical Arnica to help minimize bruising.
- Post-Treatment Care. To maintain your beautiful results, we can develop a customized skin care program from our comprehensive line of Advanced Prescriptive Skincare products that will help protect your face with everything from gentle, effective deep penetrating cleansers to broad spectrum sun blockers and sunscreens.
Ultherapy treatments generally take 30 minutes or less, and with one or two treatments, your results can be achieved. Since there’s no downtime required with Ultherapy, you can typically return to work and other activities almost immediately. While some patients may experience some redness for a few hours and mild swelling for a few days after treatment, these are normal side effects that should resolve quickly.
So schedule your consultation today to be ready to face fall with a tighter, firmer, more youthful appearance!
