Look Great and Feel Great with Morpheus8!

The next generation in skin tightening is here in New York City! Morpheus8 is a new, non-invasive treatment that stimulates collagen production by combining micro-needling and radiofrequency technologies: two proven skin rejuvenation treatments. Morpheus8 delivers exceptional skin, tissue, and collagen remodeling to improve the skin’s appearance and reduce irregularities.

What Makes Morpheus8 Different?

It’s the first and only body fractional technology that can tighten skin while also dissolving fat. One of the biggest advantages of Morpheus8 is that it can treat tough areas like the neck, knees, eyes, and lips, and also improve the appearance of acne and surgical scars.

Both lower and upper layers of skin (dermis and epidermis) are affected by Morpheus8 treatments so that patients will experience deep remodeling and resurfacing.

How Does Morpheus8 Work?

Tiny needles (microneedles) are used to deliver radiofrequency (RF) energy deep into your skin, creating micro lesions that trigger the body’s natural healing responses. This promotes new collagen and elastin production that firms and remodels the skin. The process is called collagen-induction therapy because of the cascade of collagen recovery caused by the microtrauma of repeated skin puncturing. The micro-needling and radiofrequency treatment delivers electrical energy that will cause coagulation in the tissues, improving the texture and tone of the skin by exfoliation and collagen remodeling. The process causes the skin to tighten.

What Are The Benefits Of Morpheus8?

There is a wide range of skin concerns that Morpheus8 can address, including:

  • Improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Tightening lax skin
  • Smoothing out rough or uneven skin textures
  • Reducing pore size
  • Treating hyperpigmentation and acne scarring
  • Helping to fade stretch marks
  • Reducing some fat in the face (but not enough to cause loss of volume)

Morpheus8 is also beneficial to other parts of the body, including the abdomen and buttocks, although its most popular uses are for the face, jawline, and neck. Optimal results will take up to three sessions, spaced between four and six weeks apart.

Who Are Good Candidates For Morpheus8?

The skin resurfacing that Morpheus8 offers is a treatment that can benefit all skin types and tones, and addresses a wide range of skin concerns. With the effect of stimulating collagen production it provides, Morpheus8 is excellent at minimizing many signs of aging. Candidates who can benefit most from Morpheus8 treatments are:

  • Men and women who fall between the ages of thirty and fifty-five and are showing visible signs of aging.

  • Patients with acne scars that oral and topical medications fail to improve. People with active acne should not pursue treatments, as the micro-needles moving in and out of the skin can spread bacteria that can cause breakouts.

  • Healthy, non-smoking patients who have no other medical conditions that would be considered serious, as determined by a board-certified physician.

People with sun damage and dark spots should see clearer, brighter, and more evenly toned skin following Morpheus8 treatments because the micro-needling feature of Morpheus8 helps in resurfacing the top layer of skin.

More importantly, Morpheus8 is a safe treatment option for patients with dark skin who might be at risk of hypo- or hyperpigmentation with other resurfacing treatments, such as lasers. Your board-certified New York plastic surgeon can choose the needle that’s safest for your skin tone.

Depending on your goals and skin type, the surgery can even be further adapted to suit your specific needs. There are microneedles that are coated that can only produce heat at their very tips so that they precisely target the deeper layers of skin without causing damage to the surface of the skin, or uncoated needles that transmit heat along their full length.

What Are Treatments Like With Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 treatments take between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Your board-certified New York plastic surgeon will begin by covering the treatment area with numbing cream, which may take up to an hour to take effect.
A local anesthesia may be used if a higher setting on the device is used.

The depth of the radiofrequency heat that’s delivered by the microneedles can be customized for different depths of skin layers, as in superficial, intermediate, and deep. Your surgeon can make adjustments based on the specific skin concerns you discussed with your surgeon in consultation.

A test spot should be treated first to make sure that there are no adverse reactions. If that is successful, the device will be used across your skin, which allows the needles to puncture the skin below the surface to deliver the radiofrequency energy that will go to work on the tissues, texture, and tone. Some pressure may be felt, and some dull discomfort can be expected during your procedure, but it should not be too painful because of the numbing cream.

What’s Recovery Like With Morpheus8?

Recovery is relatively easy, with no real downtime experienced, although this can vary depending on how intense the treatment is. You may have redness, itchiness, and swelling for one to three days, so you could schedule treatment on a Friday and look normal by Monday. Be sure to consult your physician about any possible side effects to be wary of.

Post-treatment care can include using products with growth factors, peptides, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and retinol, as well as skin cleansers that exfoliate and masks that are enzymatic to eliminate scabbing or crusting during healing. Avoid any skin-care products that could irritate your skin. And if you’re typically sensitive to products containing alpha-hydroxy acids or retinol, delay using them until your skin heals sufficiently. Your plastic surgeon will give you specific post-treatment instructions to help you with your skin-care regimen.

Exposure to the sun should also be avoided for a few weeks, and any time outside should be protected with a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least a 30 SPF to avoid post-treatment hyperpigmentation. Sunscreens containing titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide are gentler on skin that’s healing.

What Kind Of Results Can I Expect With Morpheus8?

It can be up to three months before your full results are visible, but you may begin to see the benefits within a few days of your first treatment and feel tighter skin within three weeks. It takes several treatments for results such as softening of lines and wrinkles, and acne scar improvement to show.

Morpheus8 results can last up to a year, so annual follow-ups for treatment will help you maintain strong collagen production and noticeable results.
