The treatment only takes about a half an hour or less, and most of the time the Selphyl system is a very comfortable procedure.The first step of a Selphyl Treatment is the extraction of the PRP. A specialist will draw a small amount of blood into a vacuum tube that contains a cell separator gel. This gel will divide the blood components, with the red and white cells going below the gel and the platelets and plasma going into the gel. The platelets and plasma are then transferred into a second vacuum cube containing a calcium chloride solution. After 10 minutes, the Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix forms, and the Selphyl treatment is ready to be injected.
The recovery after your Selphyl Treatment is short and relatively easy, since there are no side effects and the patient does not have to take any pain medications.
