Autologous treatments use tissue taken from the same individual, reducing many of the risks and complications associated with treatments that inject foreign solutions. For people seeking an autologous solution for facial rejuvenation, the Selphyl System is the perfect method for a nonsurgical facelift.

    WHAT IS THE SELPHYL SYSTEM?

The Selphyl System is a skin rejuvenation injectable that consists of Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) extracted from the patient’s blood. Once the PRP is injected into the patient’s face, it activates a series of mechanisms that releases proteins which in turn, trigger the growth and migration of healthy, new skin cells. The Selphyl System also encourages the growth of a stronger collagen structure, thus increasing facial firmness and lift.

Because it uses the patient’s blood, the Selphyl System has been given more evocative names. The procedure was first introduced on the market in 2009 and, since then, the wildly popular Selphyl Treatment has been featured in multiple print, radio, television, and online broadcasts, including “The Rachel Ray Show” and “The Doctors.”

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR THE SELPHYL SYSTEM?

The Selphyl System is great for diminishing the signs of aging, improving the appearance of wrinkles around the nose and the mouth, fading deep scars from acne, and erasing similar facial imperfections. The Selphyl Treatment is safe and effective for all skin types. Physicians have recommended that patients with issues with blood clotting or those taking blood thinning medications avoid this procedure.

    THE SELPHYL TREATMENT

You can get your Selphyl Treatment performed in your physician’s office, and it requires no general anesthesia. The treatment only takes about a half an hour or less, and most of the time the Selphyl system is a very comfortable procedure.

The first step of a Selphyl Treatment is the extraction of the PRP. A specialist will draw a small amount of blood into a vacuum tube that contains a cell separator gel. This gel will divide the blood components, with the red and white cells going below the gel and the platelets and plasma going into the gel. The platelets and plasma are then transferred into a second vacuum cube containing a calcium chloride solution. After 10 minutes, the Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix forms, and the Selphyl treatment is ready to be injected.

The recovery after your Selphyl Treatment is short and relatively easy, since there are no side effects and the patient does not have to take any pain medications.

Your results are visible in two to three weeks. As new cells form, you’ll start to notice that your face will look smoother and signs of aging are greatly diminished.

    BENEFITS OF THE SELPHYL SYSTEM

More than 15,000 Selphyl treatments have been performed around the world. One of the greatest benefits of the Selphyl System is that because it’s created from the patient’s own blood, it’s a completely individualized treatment. Because of that, the patient’s body readily accepts the PRP. Since the Selphyl Treatment is an autologous treatment, there is virtually no risk of allergic reactions and so far, none have been reported. The Selphyl System contains no animal or synthetic products, making it extremely safe while reducing the risk of side effects or complications.

The Selphyl System helps give a fuller appearance to hollow cheeks and pock marks, helps diminish acne scarring, and greatly improves the appearance of the nasolabial folds, or the smile lines.
