Breast augmentation was the most popular cosmetic procedure in 2010, silicone implants were used in 60% of all breast augmentations. The popular breast augmentation is followed by a nose reshaping, eyellid surgery, liposuction and tummy tucks in the list of the top 5 cosmetic plastic surgery, according to the annual report by American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
In 2010 were done 13.1 million cosmetic procedures, which is an increase of 5% from 2009. Interestingly, 11.6 million of them were cosmetic minimally-invasive procedures, or a procedures that are less invasive then open surgery and typically use laparoscopic devices or remote-control instruments that decrease the size of incisions.
The stats also shows that 91% of all cosmetics procedures are done by women, while 1.1 million, or 9%, procedures are done by man.
